My dress saga has been long (although I’m sure there are many people whose sagas are longer, it felt long to me) and is still unresolved. However, a post on My Hands Made It has gotten me excited about dresses again. Really excited.
Grace Kelly in To Catch a Thief. Look at it! LOOK AT IT! Flowy and lovely and interesting up top and ethereal down below and I want it.
I love it! The closest things I can think of off the top of my head that are anywhere near my price range are the Taryn and Whitney dresses from J Crew, but they lack the structure and sophistication of the Grace Kelly dress. The hunt is on.
In other news, J Crew has a few new dresses in their wedding section, possibly in anticipation of the opening of their NYC wedding boutique, and have apparently crossed the fancypants threshold with a 3500 dollar dress. Which is lovely. But 3500 dollars. If I were going to spend that much, I’d probably go somewhere besides J Crew, especially with the mixed reviews of their bridal line that I’ve read online, but that’s just me.

That dress is hot! I love dresses with a natural waistline.
I saw the $3,500 dress online and it was very pretty. But there is no way I’m dropping that for a dress. I’m going to JCrew Sunday and I’m a little nervous. Those dresses don’t look like they’re built for every body. Can’t hurt to try, I guesS!
Are you going to the NYC store? If I recall correctly, it opens this weekend! I want to go check the dresses out in real life. Cupcake Wedding had a not-so-great experience with their dresses, but I’m holding out hope for a couple of them.
I know it is a little late to reply to this post, but at Kleinfelds they have a dress by Alita Grahm that has the top and bottom of this dress, but not the natural waste line. I actually bought the dress:) I had the top made into a sweet heart neckline, now if only I could get the waste line moved up to look like Grace Kelly’s dress!

THIS IS SUPER LATE but…I love the dress that is above… if in the future you need another dress you can check out dhgate.com to find someone to make a dress that fits you (custom). Make sure that the measurements are spot on though… or you can take pictures of what you want to a dress maker/ seamstress and have it made for you. I live in a place that has very few shops for dresses but I must attend official functions (read tux and formal gown) at least once every other month. So I have my sewing lady look at the dress tell me how much of what she needs and then she makes it happen. She is also making my wedding gown. I took two that I loved and had her combine them. It is gorgeous and I love it! I guess my suggestion is that if you can’t find what you want in the store have it made.. it will make your headaches go away if you can find a great seamstress. Best of luck in the future.

i dont think that 3500 dollar one looks like the dress that much … I think this one looks alot more like the dress, and is a lot more cheaper. http://www.jcrew.com/wedding/Wedding_Bride/gowns/PRDOVR~22513/22513.jsp
